I installed the D1X Trail shifter and paddle remote on a Juiced Ripcurrent-S fat tire bicycle with a Box-One rear derailer and a 9 speed 11-50t cassette. On a 30mi ride I found the shifter to work flawlessly. I stopped several times to reposition the shifter for ergonomic comfort. The base of the paddle remote (not mounting strap) is wide and competed for space with the Tektro Hydrolic brake handle mount. I ended up with the paddle remote mounted between the handelbar grip and the brake handle mount for the most comfortable position. My 73yr old arthritic thumb appreciates the effortless paddle remote.
Once the shifter paired with my phone setup was easy for the 9 gear Box-One derailer. Early on in the paring process no device to pair was shown on the Archer Component App (IphoneX with IOS 15.5). I called (left voice mail), I texted, and I emailed Archer support around 5pm PDST Friday May 27 and have not heard from them as of 3pm PDST May 31. I finally got the App to pair myself when I turned off all my blue tooth devices.
The paddle remote is worthy of a design award in beauty, function, ergonomics and touch feedback. On initial use I am overly satisfied with the operation of the D1X. As a new first time buyer spending over $500 on the components and extra batteries I do believe Archer has a strong need to up their game with customer support.
